Walk back over to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado:
On arrival meet guide to drive to Refugio Amazonas’ Puerto Maldonado headquarters where you can leave any luggage you won’t need (see luggage restrictions below). Drive 40-minutes to the Infierno Community Port where you board a long, sturdy canoe equipped with an outboard motor to begin the trip upstream to Refugio Amazonas. The three-hour boat ride is filled with beautiful scenery; be sure to keep a sharp eye out for your first sightings of macaws, herons, caimans, and capibaras – the world’s largest rodent. Once the boat arrives at the lodge dock, you have officially reached the wild rainforests of Tambopata!

Located in a 200-hectare private reserve within the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve, Refugio Amazonas is a 32-bedroom jungle lodge. Upon arrival, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you about the lodge and the area. Characterized by traditional Ese-Eja décor that has been crafted by local artists from the Infierno community, each room features an open veranda that allows you to experience the rainforest in comfort.

After settling in, you have the option of heading out on an after-dark hike with your guide. Many of the 100-mammal species, thousands of insect species, and over 100 species of reptiles and amphibians only come out at night in the Peruvian rainforest. Easiest to find are the frogs with shapes and sounds as bizarre as their natural histories.

Two full days to explore the Amazon hiking on jungle trails and canoeing oxbow lakes with your naturalist guide in search of monkeys and macaws, caiman and capybaras. Ride mountain bikes on jungle trails, and paddle kayaks and stand-up paddle boards on the gentle Tambopata River. There are many excursions to choose from and your personal coordinator at the lodge will design a schedule that meets your interests. Some of our favorites include:

• Macaw Clay Licks: Take a boat trip to the Chuncho Clay Lick inside the Tambopata National Reserve where, on clear mornings, hundreds of macaw’s flock to eat clay. Clay licks are steep walls of red clay caused by erosion along riverbanks. Scientists believe that the parrots eat the clay to obtain minerals and vital salts, while the clay also helps to detoxify fruits and seeds that they’ve eaten in the forest.
• Canopy Tower: The lodge’s 30-meter scaffolding canopy tower gives spectacular views of the vast expanses of the Amazon Rainforest. Here, there are good chances of spotting toucans, parrots, macaws, raptors, and mixed-species canopy flocks.
• Jungle Farm Visit: Visit a working jungle farm and a real Brazil nut concession to glean more about the way of life in the rainforest. Taste exotic tropical fruits and discover medicinal plants from the neighboring indigenous families the lodge supports through ecotourism.
• Wired Amazon - a citizen science program: Guests at Refugio Amazonas are invited to join the Wired Amazon team of ecologists and participate in groundbreaking research advancing knowledge about the rainforest. From making animal behavior observations, collecting plant and animal samples, setting camera traps, and more, each month (on average) a species new to science is discovered by one of the guests

Picnic lunches are often served on field excursions and fabulous dinners await you at the lodge each night. We will drive into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a tranquil oasis of cultural, historical, and agriculture richness. This day we will visit the Ccaccaccollo Community to discover a women’s weaving cooperative where we will see and feed the Andean camelids, such as the llamas and alpacas, and where the women will show us all the stages of the traditional weaving process: hand-spinning the< wool, dying the wool using natural dyes, and participating in a weaving demonstration. Ccaccaccollo is a community that still have their traditional and ancestors’ customs, with an original heritage and form where you could have an amazing view of the mountains. We will then continue to the Inca and Colonial Pisac to discover one of the most beautiful archeological sites in the Sacred Valley located at the top of the mountain where you can have an amazing view of the colonial town of Pisac. Then, we will have a walking tour to the Colonial town where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. After visited Pisac, we will head to the impressive Inkariy Museum. Here we will take a guided tour of the museum to learn more about the numerous rooms where cultural representations of pre-Hispanic civilizations of ancient Peru are exhibited.

Our adventure continues exploring the less visited treasures of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will start in Moray where the view is awesome due to the colossal concentric terraces simulating an amphitheater. The purpose of it: to recreate 20 different types of microclimates, a measure that guaranteed the agricultural production of the empire. After that, we will go to Maras, the famous and millenary salt mines from colonial times. The contrast of the white wells and the green valley is awesome and a must for a spectacular snapshot of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will enjoy a delicious lunch and in the afternoon, we will visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, where we will be able to learn about the technique with which the Incas worked the stones.

Transfer to the train station at Ollantaytambo for an early departure to KM104, the start of the Inca Trail Express. We will cross the hanging bridge to the Chachabamba site and after a brief visit we begin the 3-hour ascent to the ruins of Wiñay Wayna, an important spiritual site. The Inca Trail cuts across the ridge above Machu Picchu to finally reach Intipunku (the Sun Gate) from where we will have an amazing first view of Machupicchu and where the trail winds downhill.
This day we will have a box lunch on route.

The classic view from the Sun Gate to the citadel is a truly unique experience, an unforgettable way for your first view of this magical site. After arriving to Machupicchu, we will descend by bus to Machupicchu Town (Aguas Calientes) and overnight at your chosen hotel with dinner included.

Early departure from your hotel for your full day guided visit to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu which takes around 8 hours. Walking through the different sectors of the hill-top citadel and learning about different aspects of Inca life and history as you admire the mist cloaked mountains. Else, you may choose from a number of short hikes like the Sun Gate or The Inka Bridge.

After lunch, we may return to Machupicchu to continue enjoying this magnificent citadel and recharge ourselves with positive energies.

Upon concluding our excursion to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu, we travel back to Cusco in style aboard the Hiram Bingham Luxury Train (or the train of your preference). This is a highlight of our journey, as we unwind over a delicious gourmet meal and listen to lively Peruvian musicians. 
Once in Cusco, we will transfer to your hotel.

Embark on a different and more physically demanding 4.5km walking tour of Cusco City’s surrounding archaeological sites beginning with an early pick up from your Cusco hotel ending at the Plaza de Armas or Main Plaza of Cusco. From this point take a short walk to the San Cristobal viewpoint that dominates a privileged view the city of Cusco.

Continue with this great outdoor experience by walking to the Sacsayhuaman Archaeological site or Fortress, a ceremonial compound and magnificent example of Inca military power also offering a
panoramic view of the City. Then walk to the Qenqo Amphitheater, a ritualistic site with subterranean galleries that form an underground maze. From this point head to the District of San Blas, with
its winding streets, the whitewashed houses, the blue balconies hung with geranium-filled flowerpots, the uneven line of the tiled rooftops and the endless stairways.

The excursion ends after descending to the Plaza de Armas strolling through cobblestone streets including a stop at Hatunrumiyoc Street to admire the 12-angled stone, perhaps the most famous example of the Incas’ exquisite stone cutting abilities.

You can bring your carry-on bag aboard the train, and the rest of your luggage will be stored safely on the luggage car, where it will be carefully received and stored.

Enjoy beautiful landscapes of Lake Titicaca and an ancestral culture in fabrics visiting the islands of the lake: Taquile Island, floating islands of Uros and Luquina Chico by speedboat and enjoy the lunch on the shores of the lake in Luquina Chico with the most exclusive local cuisine.
The Tour to the Island of Taquile, Luquina Chico and the Uros Floating Islands lasts approximately 09 hours, where we can enjoy painting landscapes with Titicaca lake throughout the day and ancestral culture stored for humanity expressed in the tissues and local customs of the islands of the lake appreciated during the trek in the islands Taquile, Islands of the Uros and the peasant community (Aymara) of Luquina Chico located in the Chucuito Peninsula where the local rustic restaurant is located where we will serve the exquisite lunch based on ingredients from the region where we have an interpretation center of the Quinoa, and finally in the afternoon visit the floating islands of the Uros with the most authentic of the 90 existing islands.

We will depart from the Hotel to the South of Puno, we go to the road that connects Puno and Bolivia, (the border) Aymara sector. Then we will visit the Totora´s Museum, an artistic demonstration of the importance of the totora in daily living in the altiplano, followed by Aramu Muro. At Km 75 we will arrive at Hayu Marca also known as Aramu Muru, the gateway to the four dimensions. People wait for the arrival of the golden solar disk that will enter through this door that will be the signal of well-being. Then We will visit July, the Little Rome that has 4 colonial churches of the XVI century. July was the capital of the archdiocese and the most important place of the pre-Inca cultures of the altiplano and continues to Pomata and its Colonial Church carved in stone
We will have lunch in a Tourist hotel and then we visited Chucuito and its temple of Fertility. We visited Inca Uyu, its colonial churches, the solar clock, the Cross of the Holy Inquisition and the trout fish farm. After visited all these amazing places, we will return to Puno.

Morning transfer to Sillustani for a guided tour before heading to the airport, if time permits. The pre Inca cemetery, on the shores of Lake Sillustani Umayo, is where we will find massive stone cylinders, which are known as chullpas -cylindrical necropolis-. This is where the great dignitaries of the Tiahuanaco culture were buried. Sillustani has been considered the religious capital of this culture. Sillustani was considered a sacred place for those who populated the plateau for more than three thousand years. Transfer to the airport to board ongoing flight. Connect in Lima for your international flight back to your country.
